2: Seven people have been sentenced for their part in smuggling nearly £900,000 worth of heroine into greater Manchester. The gang most of whom lived in Oldham were taking packages of the drug from Pakistan over the course of the year. Six were given custodial sentences totalling 41 years and one was given a community order. Chief inspector Andrew H says the sentences send out a clear message "I do think it will stop people who might choose this lifestyle.
